We are Michael and Karin Vilanova and we love to be in the company of dogs. We have been working on building this dream for many years. We specifically bought this property over 5 years ago with this dream in mind and we are thrilled to see it coming true.
What makes Dogwood Hollow so special?
We are a cage-free facility situated on 21 acres of beautiful countryside. Every dog or family of dogs, gets their own private room. We strive to make your dog’s visit as stress-free and fun as possible. When your furry baby arrives, they are greeted with a Faerie Kiss, a touch of pure lavender essential oil rubbed onto the forehead. This immediately creates a sense of calm through aromatherapy.
The calming scent of lavender is also wafting throughout the building, and gentle, soothing music from “Through a Dog’s Ear”, which is clinically proven to soothe and calm dogs is played in the building 24/7.
All of our rooms are completely indoors. This ensures that your dog will be personally walked at least 3 times a day on leash, and will receive playtime in our outdoor play area. Your dog will be interacted with and loved on, as opposed to many kennels with indoor/outdoor runs, where human contact is sparse.
Each day, our guests can get playtime the secure, fenced-in outdoor DragonFeld play area and/or leashed walks through our Enchanted Forest, into the Gnome Glade and down Pixie Trail with lots of interesting things to smell.
At bedtime, your little prince or princess will receive not only a hug and a kiss, but also a signature, all-natural ScruffyMutt biscuit before lights out.
Dog rescue is a passion of ours and we are committed to always having two of our rooms available to local rescues that need a temporary place to keep their newest rescue safe. If you are interested in adopting or fostering one of our Ladies in Waiting or Knights in Furry Armor, we will gladly connect you with the rescue organization that has them in their adoption program.
We are also currently working with Nikki Ivey of DogSpeak, and have learned a lot about dog interaction and communication so we can help your dog become more confident and relaxed during his stay! Check out her site for regular training tips.
